I started using 3D software by the end of 2005. I did quite a lot of research before I jumped in an purchased Carrara 5 from Eovia. I always had a full version of Carrara 1 that I got from a magazine junk shop a few years ago. In my research of about 2 years I always went back to Carrara 1 because I liked the look of interface. Every time I would remove it from my computer and a few month later I would find it again and give it another go. After doing some final comparisons and downloading the Carrara 4 demo I decided to spend the limited funds I had at the time and just get it. Well I'm still looking for something better and still cannot find any. So by the end of 2006 I'm completely hooked on 3D and do most of my 3D stuff in Carrara 5. For me there is nothing better. I can't wait to see what the developers will dream up next.

SOFTWARE YOU WILL NEED TO VIEW THIS WEBSITE
This website is still undergoing some development. Some pages are using plugins that I have not tested on all operating systems and browsers. I am making use of Apple Quicktime for QTVR bubble images created with Carrara. For my tutorial section called Carrara Recipes I'm using Macromedia/Adobe Flashpaper that only requires the standard Adobe Flash player to be installed. Some video sections was done with SWiSHVideo2 and also requires the standard Adobe Flash player to be viewed. I'm also experimenting with the DiVX web player but it only seems to really work properly on the PC.

•  Get the Adobe Flash player
Installation is about 1MB. As far as possible I'm trying to use Flash because it is easy to install and is compact in size for fast downloads on slow connections.
 
•  Get the Adobe Acrobat Reader
Installation is about 20-30MB. Not mandatory but I might provide PDF documents in the future
 
•  Get the Apple Quicktime viewer
Installation is about 20-30MB. Only needed for QTVR content.
 
•  Get the DiVX player and codec
Installation is about 15MB. If you have video editing software on your machine think twice about installing this player. After installing this software my video editing software bugged me until I purchased the DiVX pro license for $19.00. It is useful to have but a pain if you don't need it.

Check back regularly. I'm adding new stuff almost weekly. I developed this site to be easy to update. As soon as I upload images, swf file, mov files the website will recognize it and generate the pages for it instantaneously. The only thing that takes me a lot of time to do is to suck all this junk I'm telling you out of my thumb ;-).

You must get my written permission to store this information on your intranet server or internal network if you are a business entity with more than 5 employees. You may not use any site stripping software on this site. If you would like me to prepare a ZIPPED format of this site please ask. I've got software to properly strip and prepare it for offline viewing or intranet server distribution.

And last. Please be patient!!!, some pages contain huge media files so it will take forever to view on dialup lines. It is fair to say that a 384K DSL line will be the minimum requirement for viewing some pages. Unfortunately some of our CarraraFans are still on dialup so if your browser goes silent on you please move on to the next page or section.
